This is a change in the qualifying pipeline for US Figure Skating competitions from recent years. US Figure Skating explains the 2020 qualify structure here. For junior and senior-level skaters, this weekend's competitions are a qualifier for the 2020 US Figure Skating Championships, January 20-26, 2020, in Greensboro, North Carolina. For juvenile, intermediate and novice-level skaters, this weekend's competitions are the last USFS competition events for the season, except for those novice-level skaters who, based upon their performance this weekend, are invited to "skate up" as junior competitors in the 2020 US Figure Skating Championships.

Alexia is the 2017 Slovenian Open senior ladies' champion, the 2016 Gardena Spring Trophy junior ladies' champion, 2017 Eastern Sectional junior ladies' champion, 2016 US Figure Skating Championships novice ladies' silver medalist, and 2015 and 2016 Eastern Sectional novice ladies' champion. She won bronze at the 2017 Nebelhorn Trophy skating for Switzerland and was a member of the 2018 Swiss Olympic Team. She placed fourth overall at the 2018 Grand Prix Rostelecom Cup in Moscow after a third place performance in the short. She was fifth among junior ladies at the 2017 US Figure Skating Championships and placed sixth this year at the Challenger Series Autumn Classic in Oakville, Canada. She was ninth this season at Skate Canada. |

Skyliners Senior are the defending US Synchronized Skating silver medalists. They won silver last season at the ISU Zagreb Snowflakes Trophy and placed eighth in their first appearance at the ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships. The team has won two silver medals at nationals (2018, 2019), three bronze medals (2015, 2016, 2017) and one pewter medal (2013). The team's first season was 2012. In addition to the California Cup, Skyliners Senior will represent the United States this season at the ISU Zagreb Snowflakes Trophy in Croatia and ISU Challenger Series Spring Cup in Milan, Italy. |
Skyliners Junior are the defending World Synchronized Skating bronze medalists and 2018 World Synchronized Skating silver medalists. They are the only US junior-level team to have earned medals at worlds. Skyliners Junior are the defending US Synchronized Skating Champions, having also won in 2011, 2015, 2017 and 2018. They won silver last season in their two international assignments, the ISU Mozart Cup in Salzburg, Austria and ISU French Cup in Rouen. In addition to the California Cup, Skyliners Junior will represent the United States this season at the ISU Britannia Cup in Nottingham, England and the ISU Challenger Series French Cup in Rouen. |

Olivia is skating her second season in pairs after a successful career in singles. She is the 2015 US Figure Skating junior ladies' silver medalist and 2014 US Figure Skating Classic junior ladies' champion. Mervin won the 2012 ISU World Figure Skating Championships senior pairs' bronze medal with Narumi Takahashi, representing Japan. The pair won silver at the ISU Grand Prix Rostelecom Cup and NHK Trophy (2010 and 2011) and gold at the 2010 ISU Junior Grand Prix Final. Before teaming with Olivia, Mervin skated four seasons with Marissa Castelli, winning bronze and silver at the 2016 and 2017 US Figure Skating Championships. This is Olivia and Mervin's first international assignment. |
Jimmy placed third among junior men at the 2014 US Figure Skating Championships, fourth in 2013 and fifth among novice men in 2012. He won bronze at the Gardena Spring Trophy in 2013. He is the 2018 CS US International Classic bronze medalist, 2019 Eastern Sectional senior men's silver medalist, 2017 and 2018 Eastern Sectional senior men's bronze medalist, and 2015 Eastern Sectional senior men's pewter medalist. This is Jimmy's second international assignment of the season, having placed sixth at the 2019 CS US International Classic in Salt Lake City. |
