You are invited to join us as we continue our tradition of kicking off the skating season by cheering on some of our skaters who will be competing at Regionals and Sectionals at SCNY's brunch and exhibition!

After the exhibition, Timothy Goebel, the 2002 Olympic Bronze Medalist and SCNY member will talk about Competition Readiness and share some of his tips.

Juvenile and above skaters who are going to Regionals/Sectionals can sign up to skate their competitive programs at the Exhibition, but space is limited. There is no charge to participate. If you would like to participate, please e-mail us at mail@thescny.org by Friday, September 9th and give us the following information: name, skating level, program length, phone number and coach's name. As usual, first come, first served. We will let you know on September 12th if you are on the schedule.
If you are not skating at Regionals, please come to the the exhibition and come for Brunch on the back deck. Help send your friends off in style. It will be lots of fun and it is a great way to start the season.
The 91st Annual Middle Atlantic Figure Skating Championships are now complete.
Thank you, all skaters, coaches, officials, volunteers, sponsors and Sky Rink staff!

The 2015-2016 season has been truly memorable for our club, with seven medalists at the US Figure Skating Championships—including gold for Maia and Alex Shibutani (Senior Dance) and Adam Rippon (Senior Men), as well as international medals for our Skyliners’ Junior and Senior lines. We are equally proud of our members of all levels and ages who compete locally, nationally, and internationally, skate on one of our Synchro Teams, appear in exhibitions, take freestyle, ice dance, and moves-in-the-field tests, participate in Basic Skills programs, and just skate their hearts out across our 11 member rinks. To mark this special season, we are launching a complimentary yearbook for SCNY members and hope you will join in the celebration

Don’t miss out on the chance to place an ad in the very first SCNY yearbook!* Members, purchasing an ad in the SCNY yearbook is great way to commemorate your skater’s progress, recognize their fans and thank everyone who has made them the skater they are.

How to place your ad

Placing an ad in the SCNY yearbook is simple! You can choose a template and upload your text and hi-res photos and your ad will be created for you. Or you can create your own ad and upload the finished hi-res ad.*

● Full Page 5w x 8h — $100

● Half Page 5w x 3.75h — $60

* All skaters and coaches featured in ads must be SCNY members in good standing.

Use your ad to:

♥ Recognize your skater

♥ Root for your team

♥ Thank your club

♥ Shout out from the fans

♥ Thank your coaches

♥ Show off then and now

Full and half pages available

DEADLINE APRIL 15 22

Wollman Open competitors: Don’t forget your photos!
Action shots are perfect for your yearbook ad. Be sure to check out your photos at the Vision Photo website and Video booth!

Step LET'S GET STARTED!!

Step 1

1

Reserve a half page, full page or several pages.

Sorry, but we are no longer acccepting orders.

Order extra copies for your friends and family.

Your first copy of the yearbook is FREE and will be available from the skating director at your home rink on or around May 22nd, the date of the SCNY year-end barbecue and exhibition at Sky Rink. Extra copies are $15 apiece.

Do not proceed to Step 2 until you have completed this step (reserving space in the yearbook). We will disregard all submissions without a valid order confirmation number.

Step 2

2

Design your page.

Please refer to the confirmation email you received when you placed an order for space in the yearbook in Step 1. The Order Number is at the top of the confirmation. You will need to enter it to proceed to the next section.

If you choose to edit a template on-line, you will need to complete and submit this form for each of the pages or half pages your ordered. Please tell us in the Layout Instructions field below how you would like these pages arranged, e.g., side-by-side, and whether this form is the "first of two", "second of two", "third of five", etc.

If you choose to upload yearbook pages you prepared off-line, you may upload them simultaneously.

The advantage of downloading and modifying a template in Word is that you can change virtually everything - fonts, backgrounds, colors, even layouts -provided you adhere to the required page dimensions (5x8" portrait for full-page and 5x3¾" landscape for half-page articles), and know how to print to PDF. We will not accept Word uploads.

The advantage of substituting text and images on-line is simplicity. Subsitute photo(s) and text on-line and you're done.

Edit the template as you would any Word document, but remember to use high-resolution images (at least 1,024 pixels along the 5-inch side) and to print your finished yearbook entry to a 300 dpi PDF file before clicking the Next button below. If you don't know how to do this, we encourage you to choose the option titled Substitute text and images on-line above.

Even if you are an expert with Word, you may want to watch this brief tutorial.

If your artwork is ready, click the Next button below. Otherwise, pause here and get your PDF or high-resolution JPG ready. If you prefer to work in PowerPoint or Word, remember to print your page to PDF. Our computers don't have the same fonts as yours, so our rendering of your Word or PowerPoint file will not be consistent.

Specifications:

  •       Full-page articles must be portrait 5 x 8 inches. Don't use images unless they measure at least 1024 pixels on the 5-inch side, preferably more.
  •       Half-page articles must be landscape 5 x 3¾ inches. Don't use images unless they measure at least 1024 pixels on the 5-inch side, again, preferably more.

Important: If you don't know how to output your work to a PDF or high-resolution image file, please select the work from an online template option instead.

Make your selection with the dropdown. Clicking on one of the thumbnails will just enlarge the image in a pop-up window. Only the dropdown will record your selection.

Make your selection with the dropdown. Clicking on one of the thumbnails will just enlarge the image in a pop-up window. Only the dropdown will record your selection.

Now let's change the image(s). Click the Next button below to proceed.

PDF files must be 300 dpi and match the dimensions of the page or half-page. JPG image files must have the same width-to-height ratio as the purchased page or half page, and must measure at least 1,024 pixels along the 5-inch side, preferably more.

Because the publication deadline is days away, we cannot send you advance galleys or proofs. Please follow the document specifications carefully.

Examine your photo(s) carefully before clicking Upload. If the template photo is landscape, your photo should also be landscape. If the photo is square or portrait, yours should also be square or portrait. Do not entrust photo cropping to us.

Also, make sure the uploaded photo is high-resolution, at least 1024 pixels on its 5-inch side.

Because the deadline for publication is days away, we cannot send you advance galleys or proofs. Please follow the photo specifications carefully.

Try to approximate the length of text in the template. We will re-size fonts within reason to fit whatever you submit, but we don't have time to send you galleys or proofs before publication.

Background images must be at least 1,024 pixels along the 5-inch side. Do not upload copyrighted images unless you are expressly authorized to use them.

This is where you can request a different font, provided you know its name and it is widely available. This is also where you can ask us to substitute a font or background from one of the other templates, provided your instructions are clear.

Remember that we will not be issuing advance galleys or proofs, so please be as clear, succinct and reasonable as possible.

We reserve the right to reject any submission that is negative, inflammatory, offensive or adverse to the yearbook's main purpose: celebrating our club's skaters, teams, coaches, officials and supporters.

All yearbook purchases and article submissions are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.
